Spotted a statute that changed? Email research@inheritbystate.site with the state name and the section or code you found. We review reader reports and update the table when a change is confirmed against the current text. A short note with the citation helps us act fast.

Report an error

If a share looks wrong, tell us the state and the family situation (spouse and children, spouse only, children only, or no relatives). Include the source you trust, such as the current probate code or a court form, and we will check it. Correction reports are the fastest way to improve the reference, because the tables are only as good as the last verification.

What we can and cannot do

We can fix the table and add a citation. We cannot give legal advice about your own estate, and we cannot tell you what a specific will or trust means. For that, speak with a probate attorney in the state that applies. We also cannot intervene with a court or with another website that copied our data.

Before you write

It helps to name the exact page and the row you mean. Saying "the California spouse-and-children number" points us to the right cell far faster than a general note. If you can paste the section text from the official code, that is the strongest evidence we can receive.

Response time

We aim to answer every message, but this is a reference project run alongside other work, so replies may take some days. Thank you for helping keep the data honest. If a deadline is urgent because a filing is due, do not wait on us — confirm the rule with the probate court directly.
